When connecting to a Ubuntu machine, from a linux machine, I've been using vncviewer. However, from a vista laptop, i had been using TightVNC. Overall, TightVNC is a good application, BUT the most frustrating of "features" is the lack of ALT+TAB support. i consider this a deal breaker. I had wanted to switch to RealVNC right away, but then resisted because somehow I felt that it wasn't a free app.
Turns out I was mis-informed. sort of. Apparently, the newest version is non-free. The older version (VNC Free Edition Viewer for Windows, Stand-alone Viewer,
Version 4.1.3) found here is free! Yay! RealVNC works so much better now that ALT+TAB is a possibility :)
